Cover Title: A Pictorial Review of N&W Motive Power
Cover Subtitle: Part One
On the Cover: Shenandoah Valley RR No. 46, a 2-8-0, was built by Baldwin in 1883. Its weight of 109,300 pounds was carried on 50" drivers. Cylinders were 20" x 24". After the N&W RR acquired the SVRR, No. 46 became N&W Class I No. 553. The locomotive was further changed by the N&W at a later date to an 0-8-0.
