On the Cover: In a priceless "the star has arrived" shot, Jeannette MacDonald (of "Nelson Eddy and... fame) steps off the Pocahontas in Roanoke in 1941. This was just one of the many classic photos unearthed by Frank Brown in the N&W photo archives in Roanoke. More classic photos appear in his story beginning on page 4.
