Between all of us working on the convention, we've railfanned almost all of the Virginian in West Virginia and have provided these railfan guides for much of the Virginian tracks in WV.
Should you desire to do some extra railfanning before or during the convention, someone will be available from time to time at the registration table at Twin Falls on Wednesday evening for you to pick up your registration packet which includes the following guide to the Virginian lines in the immediate area:
Railfan Guide 1 - Twin Falls to Mullens loop.
This guide covers the area within about 30 miles of Twin Falls.
But wait, if that's not enough railfan information for you, we've included longer guides for almost all of the existing Virginian lines in WV and some of the nearby N&W mainline. Please note, all of the remaining guides cover a larger area and as such, these trips will take much longer. Please plan accordingly.
A limited number of these extra guides will be available at the registration table beginning on Wednesday evening, but for those of you wishing to see more of the area tracks we urge you to print copies in advance.
Railfan Guide 2 - Twin Falls to Deepwater (VGN West)
This guide covers the Virginian mainline from Maben to it's western end at Deepwater. It also covers a little bit of the ex NYC and C&O on the return.
Railfan Guide 3 - Twin Falls to Kelleysville (VGN East)
This guide covers the Virginian mainline from Maben to it's eastern end at Kelleysville. It also has a small portion of the N&W Bluestone Branch around Matoaka and the N&W mainline at Oakville.
Railfan Guide 4 - Twin Falls to Bluefield to Iaeger (N&W Main) to Gilbert (VGN Guyandot River Branch)
This guide begins in Bluefield (which is accessed from railfan guide 3 above) and covers the N&W mainline in southern WV to Iaeger, although this area has been better covered in Bluefield conventions and is much further away from Twin Falls. There will be many more trains on the N&W mainline so if you wish to see trains this area is highly suggested.
