On the Cover: Folowing acquisition by the N&W, motive power on the Narrows Branch was Class G1 2-8-0's Nos, 4 and 5, sisters to No. 7. The 4 G1 engines, Nos. 4-7, were built by Baldwin in January, 1897 as N&W Nos. 205, 203, 200, and 201 respectively then sold to Virginia Carolina Ry. (Abingdon Branch) 4,5,6 and 7, thence back to N&W with these same numbers in January, 1920. 4 and 5 scrapped April, 1947. No. 6 donated to Roanoke Transportation Museum Sept. 1955.
